Eco designer, Emmeline Child, is to unleash her quirky eco-wear on London shoppers following the launch of her companyâ??s debut boutique just off Oxford Circus. Originally confined to internet sales, along with a few handpicked stockists â?? including trendy The Dodo and the Dinosaur in Milan, Emmeline 4 Re has experienced a surge in demand for the innovatively sourced, unique designs and will be opening the companyâ??s first store on October 19th.Reduce, reuse, recycle is less of a catchy phrase for Emmeline 4 Re, and more like a company ethos. All buttons, threads and zips used are cast-offs or donations from companies, friends and family and those interested in recycling (with vintage buttons a particular favourite). Linings are sourced from textile manufacturers and are ends of rolls and cuts, which normally would have been discarded, and the fabrics used are from Kettering Textiles Ltd and the Salvation Army and are all damaged or ripped garments otherwise destined for landfill.Shunning the current craze for cheaply made, mass-produced clothes, Child prides herself on creating well made pieces which are designed to last well past the usual one season. The designer has created a near-perfect balance enabling shoppers to don the latest trends whilst steering clear of a wasteful disposable culture- and unlike buying from high-street chains youâ??re mightily unlikely to catch anyone wearing the same outfit. The boutique will also stock a handful of other ethically minded labels including Uncommonly Beautiful jewellery, Beyond Skin shoes and underwear by Amira. And as if the company didnâ??t have enough eco-credentials under its belt profits are to be donated back to the Salvation Army to help aid projects throughout the UK and abroad.
