It is said that the industrial world runs of cheap affordable energy and when the price of oil, natural gas and electricity goes up then the economy goes down. My question is are you willing to trade off strong economic activity in return for a greener planet and less fossil fuels being pumped into the atmosphear?
Alternative energy can help but at what price and how long is the transition to renewable energy?

My theory is that there will be a long period of adjustment between the fossil fuel economy to the renewable energy economy and until the governments of the western worlds make renewable energy more competitive and also more cost effective with oil and gas and coal my guess is that the public wont be willing to make the adjustment!

Could not agree more, Al Gore suggested the transition could take as little at 10 years, I think it will take much longer

I think Al Gore is a wishfull thinker as a more realistic time period is about 25 years! For example, assuming the hydrogen car becomes a reality who is going to build the hydrogen refilling stations not to mention the hydrogen production facilities
