Self professed sustainability embracers B&Q have launch a range of nearly 2000 eco-home and garden products in partnership with eco-experts BioRegional. The One Planet Home® range has been independently assessed by BioRegional and can help customers shrink their total Ecological Footprint by a healthy 10%. The range was inspired by the fact that if everyone in the world lived to the excess that we do today in the UK, we would need the resources of three planets to sustain us. We are already seeing problems from our unsustainable lifestyles in the forms of deforestation in the Amazon, and dangerous climate change causing devastating storms around the world. Some of the products available through the One Planet Home range bring dual benefits of being kind to the planet and kind to your wallet. For instance: Loft insulation for a typical 3 bedroom home can save £155 in heating costs per year A water butt can reduce water bills by £53 per year A washing line in place of a tumble dryer can reduce electricity bills by £58 per year BioRegional and B&Q have worked to make sure that customers are supported in their eco-choices. A range of One Planet Home® information leaflets and an insulation DVD are also available in stores. B&Q and BioRegional also provide an on-line One Planet Living Calculator and Action Plan so that people can work out their Ecological Footprint and get a personalised action plan to help to shrink it.
